I was a young dancer at the Norwegian Opera Ballet when I was lucky enough to participate in the Nutcracker ballet. I became closely acquainted with a challenge every performer knows too well: sweat and odor damaging delicate costumes. These garments—crafted from the finest fabrics—couldn’t be washed at high temperatures, and yet they had to withstand hours of intense movement under bright stage lights.
